Trained as an architect at ETH Zurich, Paula Gisler works across scales — from buildings and interiors to furniture and hand-painted ceramics. Every piece is made by experts in their field, in limited series or on demand. Nothing is mass-produced.

Paula Gisler trained at the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) in Zurich, where she earned her Master’s degree in Architecture, and practised as an architect and interior designer in Spain and Switzerland before establishing the studio in 2025.
The studio works across scales without changing register. A building, a room and a table are approached in the same way: understand the material, respect what the craft allows, remove everything that isn’t necessary. Architecture here is not separate from the objects that fill it — the two are designed as one conversation.

LINHA Table
Solid wood table with hand-painted tiles. A tableau of ceramic tiles, painted by hand at Viúva Lamego in Sintra, set into a solid wood frame crafted in Switzerland.
Each table is made individually, so each one is unique. Available as a side table or in two coffee table sizes, in walnut or oak, and in any of the four LINHA colourways.

Drawing on Brazilian Modernism and the landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, the LINHA tiles translate conceptual ideas into a vibrant visual language — a single line visually connects individual tiles into a continuous drawing across a surface.
Each tile is painted individually by hand at Viúva Lamego, founded in 1849, using clay from the factory’s own quarry near Sintra. All colours are batch produced and hand-applied, so tiles can contain subtle variations in colour.

In collaboration with Mai 36 Galerie Zurich, the studio works with renowned artists from around the world to create editions as an extension of their body of work — produced with the same artisans, in the same ceramic tradition.

× Matt Mullican
A suite of five multicoloured, traditionally processed and hand-painted terra-cotta tiles, produced by Viúva Lamego in Sintra, Portugal, housed in a wooden box.
The five tiles depict symbols from Mullican’s cosmological system, in which each colour corresponds to a different level of perception.

× Matt Mullican
A second edition developed with Matt Mullican, extending his chart of worlds into hand-painted ceramic — the same traditional process, the same clay from the quarry near Sintra.
Matt Mullican
Matt Mullican studied at CalArts and is considered a member of the “Pictures Generation”. His work is held in the collections of MoMA, Tate Modern, Haus der Kunst Munich and the Centre Pompidou.
The tiles are made from local clay sourced from Viúva Lamego’s own quarry near the factory. The clay is mechanically extruded, then cut, glazed and fired, before being hand-painted by experienced ceramic painters.
